From Search to Discovery in Our Future Library

This post includes the presentation that Josh Vawdrey (our IT Manager) and I gave at the recent THETA Conference in Hobart, Tasmania. It showcases our current and recent thinking, aspirations and work towards the addition of real discovery capabilities to our services and programs within the Library and via our online presence.

Update (24 April): from about slide/page 47 on below you see a demonstration of how some conceptual work of our first Artist-in-Residence Chris Gaul could be applied to enable browsing against something that looks like a DNA ribbon or a rainbow that represents the monograph collections. Well, our clever ITS team have now made that browsing feature a reality and you can try it here: http://find.lib.uts.edu.au/ So go and have a play with that ribbon!
