LRS Requests

icon  The Library Retrieval System (LRS) is an automated storage and retrieval facility where our low-use collection items are stored.

How to request LRS items

  1. Search the Library Catalogue.
  2. Select the LRS item you want (LRS items will state 'Library Retrieval System' under Location).
  3. Click 'Request from LRS'.
Fill in your details, and click Request. You will be notified by email or text when the item is ready for collection.
  4. LRS items can be picked up from Open Reserve within 7 days on Level 2 of UTS Library.

Note: LRS items that are 'In transit' are on the way to the LRS to be stored. Note: Once available, the 'Request from LRS' button will appear. If the LRS item is 'In-transit' or 'On loan" it cannot be borrowed or placed on hold through the Library Catalogue. You can visit the Enquiries & Loans Desk or call us on 9514 3666 to hold that item or if you wish to cancel an LRS request.

How to request articles from the LRS

  1. Search the Library Catalogue for a journal.
  2. Select the journal.
Select 'Request From LRS' to retrieve the entire issue. If you know which specific article you require, you can use ArticleReach to retrieve it.
  3. You will be redirected to ArticleReach.
Fill in the details of your request, and click Submit.
  4. LRS items can be picked up from Open Reserve on Level 2 of UTS Library. Items will be held for 7 days.

Note: This service is only available to UTS students and staff. All other clients will need to request the full journal from the LRS.

Picking up and returning LRS items

After you have requested an item and it is ready to be collected, you will receive an email or SMS notification and it will be held for you for 7 days from this notification.

You may collect the item from the Open Reserve Holds area on Level 2 of the Library. Items are sorted on the shelves alphabetically by your surname.

See Returns for item return locations.
