Troubleshooting the Equipment

The power button is located on the back of the TV towards the left. The consoles can be turned on using the power button on the controller or the power button on the console.

Use the HDMI Splitter behind the consoles to display the correct console on the correct TV

The wireless headphones may need to be tuned to the correct TV. Make sure they are powered on, then use the TUNE dial on the headphones until you hear the correct sound output. This allows the televisions to be operated simultaneously.

Equipment available for Borrowing

The majority of our games collection is available digitally on the consoles. Wireless headphones, game controllers and some game discs can be found in the Library Catalogue

Afraid not. We're welcoming people to bring their own games on disc, but we're not ready to accomodate setting up new consoles.

And a (humble?) bundle of really fantastic games in general. Right now we're trying to figure out how to create a PC setup that would meet our needs there. Consoles are the easy part, PC is something we need to come up with a (history) strategy (game) for.

Huh? Huh?

I'll show myself out.

Any possibility that you could setup 5 desks, each with its own ethernet outlet, wall socket and connection to Steam to allow for Steam games being played as a team (ie. Dota, CS:GO)? As far as hardware goes, being bring your own laptop?

Have you considered

Have you considered contacting the student club EGG: The Gamers Guild about this? They already have a lot of PC setups.

Is this only for UTS students

Is this only for UTS students? Would it be ok to bring one friend from another university to hang out and play here?

Hi Jaewon,

Hi Jaewon,

Your friend would need to apply for a Day Visitor Pass with security to gain access to the Library, and you would need to borrow any equipment with your UTS ID Card.

We mostly collect DVDs as

We mostly collect DVDs as that's the equipment available around campus and we know all of our users will be able to access this format, or we use streaming options where they are available, however we'll look into blu ray. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is farcical. UTS Library

This is farcical. UTS Library would do better to spend this money stocking its empty shelves with some fairly basic titles for its students and staff to read. I have to order the most standard reference texts (Frantz Fanon, Foucault, Bill Stuntz, Randall Kennedy, Aileen Moreton-Robinson -- I am not joking) through BONUS. I have given up making suggestions for fairly standard titles that are missing from the Library's collection and have taken to buying my own books rather than stacking up futher fines through BONUS.

Thanks for your feedback

Thanks for your feedback Amanda. I can assure you no collection funds were used in creating the Games Room and it has proven a popular area with students which we think serves both an educational and recreational purpose. If you would like to discuss your requirements regarding the Library collection and how we might better assist with your research please contact me at Belinda.tiffen@uts.edu.au or via phone on 9514 3335.

Hi there,

Currently the Games Room is not bookable and we hope that students will share the space equitably. Please speak to a staff member if you are experiencing any issues.

If you're interested in video gaming setups for clubs, you should probably ask EGG: The Gamers Guild. They have plenty of gear they're willing to share.

Yep, we will be updated this page as new games are added to the collection. If you have suggestions, write them on the wall in the room!

Hi Young,

You can view the equipment/games available at the Enquiries & Loans Desk here: http://find.lib.uts.edu.au/search?N=4294967068

Most of our games collection is available through the consoles themselves. You can check the list on this news item (and in the Games Room) to see all the games available.

Cheers,

Edward.

I pretty much like the idea. However, I strongly feel the room needs to be made sound proof. There is too much noise coming from the room.
