This book was never on my reading list at school, and I've very belatedly finished it a few weeks ago. I really loved the story; it was powerful and emotionally riveting. I think I'll have to watch the film next!

One of my childhood favourites which I re-read regularly. It never loses its power - and the film is fantastic too!
