  • reference books
  • fragile materials

The number of items you can borrow depends on your UTS borrowing limit (InterLibrary Loans are included in your limit).

  • Books
Average of 15 working days before item is ready for collection.

  • Photocopies of articles, conference papers or book chapters
We post material received in electronic format to the Web. An average time of 5 working days can be expected before you receive an email message with details that will allow you to access the requested material. Please check you email regularly.
  • Theses

Some Australian postgraduate theses are available online via the Australian Digital Thesis (ADT) Program.

If the thesis is not available online, UTS Library will seek to borrow or purchase it. Most theses are not for loan and need to be purchased. If the thesis you require is held at a library near you, we recommend you view the thesis at that library.

  • Films/videos/dvds

Yes. Log in to MyLibrary and click on Interlibrary loan requests to view requests awaiting arrival and requests for items which are ready for pick up.

After you submit your request, it will take about one working day before the request will appear in MyLibrary (with the status awaiting arrival).

Requests for photocopies of journal articles, book chapters or conference papers will appear in MyLibrary until the photocopies are available to access via the Web.

We will email or telephone you when the item is ready to collect. You can then collect the item from the campus library specified on the request form.

If you request a journal article, book chapter or conference paper, you will be able to retrieve the material using a URL and PIN which will be sent to your UTS email address. You will need internet access, a UTS email account and Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7 or later. (Adobe is free to download.)

For assistance with accessing material please call the Library on 02 9514 3304 or email ill@lib.uts.edu.au.

There is no charge. We ask you to be as judicious as possible in submitting requests.

Only some lending libraries allow items to be renewed.

If you require a renewal please contact ill@lib.uts.edu.au before the due date. We will request a renewal on your behalf and notify you by email of the lending library's response.

Check you are eligible to use the InterLending Service before submitting your request.

If you have library fines of $30.00 or more, you will need to pay the full amount before you can submit a request.

If you are still having problems submitting your request please contact ill@lib.uts.edu.au or phone the Library on 02 9514 3666.

Eligible remote students will be able to retrieve copies of articles, book chapters or conference papers using a URL and PIN which will be sent to their UTS email address. Internet access, a UTS email account and Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7 or later are required. (Adobe is free to download.)
