For your assignment, you need to find a news article. But there are so many news article on the internet and it’s hard to know which articles have reliable information. To help you determine which news article is reliable, use the C.R.A.P Test to evaluate your article.

To search for news articles, you can use the following databases or google search tip:

  • Google
    Search your keywords + Australia newspaper article
    e.g: e-waste recycling AND Australia newspaper article
  • Newsbank
    A news database that is easy to search and contains both local and national Australian newspapers. Here's a tutorial on how to use Newsbank.
  • Factiva
    A news database that searches Australian and international newspapers. Please note that the Library have a limited amount of license for this database, meaning that there is a limited amount of people can access the database at the same time. Here's a tutorial on how to use Factiva.

Website

To find government websites, search your keywords and site:.gov.XX

  • XX is for the country code. For example: .gov.au or .gov.jp or .gov.uk
  • Example: communication strategy site:.gov.au

To find organisation websites, search your keywords and site:.org.XX

 

  • XX is for the country code. For example: .org.au or .org.jp or .org.uk
  • Example: recycling strategy site:.org.au
