Databases for Cultural and Aesthetic Articles
Proquest: the Arts - a huge multidisciplinary database. Lots of hits but more work to slim your search down. Contains popular magazines like Rolling Stone, Mix, Guitar Player and Professional Sound
Academic Search Complete - another very large multidisciplinary database. Less hits than Proquest
JSTOR - also good for music theory and older articles, contains some of the same journals as Project Muse, and titles like the Journal of Musicology and the Journal of Music Theory
Project Muse - Arts focused database that contains the Computer Music Journal, Early music, Callallo and Leonardo
Taylor and Francis - full text database academic database, not as large as the above two - more focused hits on music theory. Contains the Contemporary Music Review, Journal of New Music Research and Jazz Perspective, amongst others
Rock's Back Pages - Contains early music articles from the 1950's through to the present

Databases for Technical Articles
IEEE - contains a wealth of highly technical sound and audio engineering articles
ACM - similar to IEEE, but with a slightly added emphasis on software

Databases for News (especially for Australian music reviews)
NewsBank - Australian news
Factiva - International news
