New Resource: 3 new collections added to Archives Unbound

Archives Unbound

UTS Library recently added three new collections to Archives Unbound - a new online resource containing topically-focused collections of historical documents that support multi-disciplinary research.

19th Century English-Language Journals from the Far East

Containing six rare English-language journals, covering a wide range of topics such as East-West communication, Christianity in China and other parts of Asia, and China’s political, economic, and cultural landscape. This collection comprises three sub-collections:

1. A Compilation of Rare English Journals Published inside and outside China before 1911

2. The China Review: or Notes and Queries on the Far East (1872-1901); and

3. Indo-Chinese Gleaner (1817-1822).

La Guerra Civil Española

3,000 rare pamphlets from the Spanish Civil War period, including publications from Spain, Portugal, Latin America and the Philippines, as well as more than 100 German pamphlets published in Spanish.

Revolution in Honduras and American Business: The Quintessential “Banana Republic”

This collection details the political and financial machinations of the fruit companies, the graft and corruption of the national government, the American banking community’s loans, the U.S. government’s response and the various aborted popular/revolutionary uprisings.

The largest single group of records relates to Honduran political affairs; pertaining chiefly to the turbulent political situation and almost continuous revolutionary activity in Honduras. Included are discussions of boundary disputes and border troubles with EL Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala and revolutionary movements originating from these neighboring countries and from Mexico.

Another large group of records relates to Honduran financial affairs and concerns.
