HeadsUp: Giving you a head start at Uni

HeadsUp is a series of quick and interactive online training modules that are packed with resources and cover everything you need to get started at UTS. Each module takes around 15 minutes to complete with a few quiz questions to help you remember the most important bits. 

  • Library Orientation: Find your readings and learn your way around the library.

  • Starting Your Assignment:  What is your assignment question asking you to do? Not sure how to get started? This is the module for you!

  • Finding Books & Articles: Research your assignments with tips and tricks to save you time.

  • Evaluating Information: Only use the best! Advice on separating out the expert information from the dodgy.

  • Referencing: Learn how to reference books, journal articles and websites in UTS Harvard.

  • Academic Writing: Guidance on writing your first essay.

  • Presentations: Resources and support for giving great presentations.

  • Study Skills: Covers active listening, group work, reading critically, note taking and project management.

  • Coping Skills: Resources on time management, budgeting, managing stress and connecting with people.

Academic Staff: SCORM packages are available for each module. These packages allow you to embed HeadsUp modules into UTS Online or Canvas. Speak to your Librarian to set this up.
