Over 1,400 first year students visited the Library on a cloudy Wednesday morning during UTS Orientation to take part in Play Day 2017, UTS Library’s largest event of the year! As patrons entered the foyer, they were welcomed with a canvas tote bag stuffed with goodies and information on Library services to assist them throughout their university studies.
On Level 2, the agile took to Table Tennis and the studious tested their knowledge at Reading Games. Those interested in virtual reality got to test out goggles in the VR Demo Zone, while the Spy Games scavenger hunt, crafted by our ingenious librarians, lead students all over the Library on a search for secret codes to win major prizes.
Upstairs on Level 3, it wasn’t just engineers who excelled at the Paper Planes competition. Flights over 17 metres were recorded, while next door students heard their futures predicted by mystical Tarot Cards. The Maker Space invited everyone to get creative with hands-on trials of 3D print pens, Little Bits electronics, kinetic sand, Sphero balls and more. This collaborative space saw hundreds of students embrace new methods of innovative learning in a non-traditional environment.
Thank you to everyone who attended Play Day as well as to our partners for contributing to making Play Day 2017 the largest and most successful yet.
