Can’t Find the Book You Need? Try These 3 Tips

Having trouble finding an item in the Library Catalogue or unsure of its availability? Here are three ways you may be able to find what you’re after through the Library Retrieval System, BONUS+ and recall options.

1) Library Retrieval System (LRS)

Did you know that the Library holds approximately 490,000 items in the LRS, a state-of-the-art storage facility underneath Alumni Green? This allows us to offer more physical study space for students while keeping low usage books close at hand.

If your item shows “Request From LRS”, it is available and stored in the Library Retrieval System. Simply click “Request from LRS” and it will be ready for pickup at the Library within two hours.

UTS Library has expanded our collection by partnering with 14 libraries with over 7 million items available for requesting across Australia and New Zealand. If your search does not show the item you’re after, try searching for it at a participating library by clicking on BONUS+.

3) Recall

If you have found the item you’re after in the catalogue and it is unavailable, you can recall a copy that is currently out on loan by placing a request.
