Indigenous Literacy Day is an annual event “helping to raise funds to raise literacy levels and improve the lives and opportunities of Indigenous Australians living in remote and isolated regions” (ILF) and will be celebrated on 5 September, 2012.

Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning and UTS Library would like to encourage all staff and students to dig deep and donate to the Indigenous Literacy Day Project.

Donations for the project will be gratefully accepted from 1 – 31 August, 2012.

Do you have any children’s books at home that you no longer need?

Then bring them down to the City Campus Library and drop them in the donations barrel situated in the Library foyer. All books donated will be distributed by Jumbunna IHL to children from the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Don’t have any books to donate?

You can contribute to this great project by donating a gold coin in the donations box situated in the Library foyer. All money raised will be used to purchase book packs that will also be distributed by Jumbunna IHL to children from the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
