Food for Fines

Students need to make sure that outstanding library fines are under $50 to receive spring semester results.

Food for Fines is now in its fourth year at the City Campus Library and Kuring-Gai Campus Library. This year, Food for Fines will run from Monday 19 November to Sunday 16 December. Donations can be made at the Enquiries and Loans desks at both campus libraries.

The Food for Fines Campaign is a way for library clients to contribute to a worthy cause and lower their fines at the same time. Staff and students will be able to donate non-perishable items, they can be canned food, jars and packeted food, but no confectionary. Items must not be damaged and the expiry date must not be before June 2013.

For each item donated $3 will be deducted from their fines. A maximum of $30 can be claimed. The Library encourages clients without fines to also donate, as it all goes to a worthy cause. The donations will be given to Mission Australia. They are a local charity helping people who are homeless, unemployed or living in poverty.

So get in the Christmas spirit and start giving.
