How do I reference quotes from individuals?
Hi there, I am studying Design and for one of my assignments I have included quotes by designers and theorists. Some of these I found in a book and others I had previously collected and I don't know where I found them. Is it ok just to text reference them i.e. 'Not all those who wander are lost' (J.R.R. Tolkien). Or should I include this in my Bibliography aswell? And if yes how do I do this? Please help me! Thank you

I would advise against quoting people 'in-text' (ie: 'Not all those who wander are lost' (J.R.R. Tolkien) - without having a matching bibliographic entry saying where the quote came from. This matching of in-text references to a bibliographic entry is expected by our Harvard UTS system, unless the quote was verbal or otherwise regarded as 'personal communication' (ie: an email). It might be worth googling the quotes and seeing if you can come up with some source material. Another thing you'd normally want to provide with a quote is a page number (if the original quote was from a numbered page) - so being able to provide that would help you get your referencing up to the highest standard.
