IPR, Commercialisation and Copyright [1]

Intellectual Property

In order for the University and its partners to fully exploit UTS Intellectual Property (IP), the IP must be protected. The Industry Engagement and Commercialisation Team [2] in Research and Innovation Office (RIO) manages the UTS IP portfolio through the IP lifecycle. 

Commercialisation

Commercial value of research depends to a large extent on the discipline area and the type of research being conducted. UTS provides support through the Industry Engagement and Commercialisation Team [3] within RIO.

Copyright

There are a number of complicated rules and regulations surrounding copyright and IP law. For instance, do you know who owns the copyright to your work when you publish? What exactly constitutes educational purposes? How do you know if your product is worth patenting?
