Cannot update Endnote X7 to 7.5 on PC laptop

Hi. I downloaded EndNote from UTS Library's link today. The installation was perfect. However, when I opened EndNote to use, There was an offer for install and upgrade to 7.5 from the Endnote Program. When I accepted and let the update process begin, the program attempted to update for a while, but got stuck shortly and then this panel appear, showed that :'This patch package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package", and the update and the program both automatically closed. Without the update, when I choose "Skip this update" at the entrance portal of EndNote, it works normal and effective. The only problem is that I can not upgrade. What is the solution to this problem? Thanks for your kind help.

An interesting conundrum Duc. It's possible that the patch file and your Windows system aren't getting along. I know that with some Windows 8 and Windows 10 computers the security settings for the operating system don't like certain kinds of non .exe file extensions and I think EndNote runs non .exe file extensions like .msi ...

Can you let me know what kind of operating system you are running and I'll seek out a solution. From my recent experience you can usually remedy this problem by going into your computer settings and making a couple of little changes.

Thanks!
