Finding eBooks

Studying with mobile devicesThe Library holds a large collection of eBooks, many in large eBook databases. To find:

  1. Search the Library Catalogue by keyword
  2. Limit your results by: Availability: “Available Online” and Resource Type: “Books”
  3. You can also directly search within one of the following eBook Databases

eBook Databases

ACLS Humanities E-Book

Provides full-text and full-page-image access to titles in most humanities disciplines and in area studies. The books included have been recommended by scholars as significant contributions to their respective fields.

EBSCOhost eBook Collection 

EBSCO eBook Collection has academic books in multiple subject areas and popular fictions. With EBSCO's extensive collection of eBook titles on EBSCOhost, users can search within a wide range of relevant ebooks using the powerful EBSCOhost search experience. 

EBSCO eBooks are compatible with Bluefire Reader, or any other Adobe Digital Editions supported app. 


The Knovel collection provides access to online versions of reference books in the fields of engineering and applied sciences and integrates technical material with powerful search and analysis tools. Personal notes can be added and links can be shared with colleagues.

The Knovel Mobile App is available for offline access.

O’Reilly for Higher Education

Safari Books Online is now O'Reilly for Higher Education.

The O'Reilly for Higher Education digital platform includes more than 38,000 book titles and more than 30,000 hours of video. ... Users also get access to exclusive O'Reilly content and as well as resources from more than 200 of the world's best publishers.

Use your UTS email domain (@uts.edu.au or student.uts.edu.au) to access O’Reilly, then set a password to secure your account from either the welcome email or by using the “forgot password” link.  After you have set a password, click on “Already a user” to login to your account in the pop-up window or “Sign-in” at the top right corner of the web page. There is no need to create a “Free trial” account. For issues with pre-existing free trial accounts contact lib-schol-info@uts.edu.au to transfer to a UTS Library full access account.

Oxford Reference Online 

Oxford Reference Online provides online access to a range of dictionaries and reference titles which includes "The Oxford Companion to Australian History" and THE "Visual English Dictionary".

ProQuest Ebook Central

ProQuest Ebook Central delivers ebooks from scholarly sources, including University Presses and other top publishers.

You can view books online in your browser choosing the Online Reading option with  easy-to-use tools for taking notes and making citations. You also can download the books by choosing Full Download option with the relevant software, for example,  Adobe Digital Editions for desktop or Bluefire Reader for iOS and Android devices, or PDF Chapter Download option.

UTS has a substantial collection of titles available covering Biomedicine & Life Sciences, computer science, engineering, mathematics & statistics, business & management and medicine.

Wiley Online Library

Provides full text access to journals, reference works, books, and databases published by Wiley in all the science disciplines.
