When you are doing original research, it's important that your analysis is informed by academic literature. This shows that your understanding of the responses given to you are based around established models of learning and development, not just your own feelings about the learner.

It's also important that, as you learn new things, you return to the literature with these new perspectives. This is how you acheive depth of understanding that you can demonstrate in your assessments.
