Finding Standards
UTS Library has a number of Standards publications in our collection, please search by keywords for individual standards (including ISO standards) in the Library Catalogue. If the standard is not available in the Library Catalogue please try the databases listed below, you can also try InterLibrary Loans (request as book). If you have difficulty in finding a standard, please contact a librarian.
Australian Standards
- Australian Standards Online provides the complete collection of current Australian standards and a part of ISO standards. From the 1st of July, access to standards is changing. You will be required to register your name and UTS email address, then authenticate in order to download, save or print a standard.
You will still be able to view standards as read only without registering your details.
- Australian Accounting and Auditing Standards (AAS)
- Australian Building Construction and Engineering Database (BUILD)
A Google search "standards site:gov.au" will find more open-access standards used in different industries in Australia.
International Standards
- British standards online. UTS library has full text access to modules of Environment, Wastes Standards (GM06); Construction-General Standards (GBM48); Building Materials & Components Standards (GM49); Management, Law, Quality (GBM04)
Standards for Engineering and IT
- IEEE standards. Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Standards available from IEEE Xplore database.** IEEE Xplore provides a series of recommended training modules.
- ASTM Standards Source Online American Society of Testing Materials provides 12,000 plus standards covering metals, petroleum, construction, the environment and more.
- ASME Standards - Boiler pressure vessel code.Provides full-text access to standards from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
- ACI Manual of Concrete Practice contains all of the widely used ACI (American Concrete Institute) concrete and masonry building codes, requirements, standards, specifications, guides and reports.
- SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Ground Vehicle Standards
Developing Standards
The organisation of Standards Australia welcomes anyone to contribute to standards development, the policies and steps are available to view on their website.
