EndNote for the Graduate School of Health

EndNote is a reference manager that collects and stores references, and can be used with Microsoft Word or Pages to add references into an essay. EndNote can be downloaded for free from the Library website, and can be installed on either a PC or a Mac.

To start using EndNote:

  1. Download EndNote from the Library website
  2. Add or select the recommended referencing style for your discipline
    • Orthoptics - JAMA or Vancouver style (these both come with EndNote)
    • Pharmacy and Physiotherapy - Harvard UTS style - there are instructons on how to install this style here
    • Clinical Psychology - APA 6th style (this comes with EndNote)
Manually add references to your EndNote library using Control + N (or Command + N on a Mac) - this is the best way to add references for websites, online reports, and clinical practice guidelines
Export references from a database by selecting them and clicking the 'export' link, then selecting the 'EndNote' or 'RIS file' option (this depends on the database)

For more information on using EndNote, take a look at our EndNote workshops, and the referencing pages on the Library website.
