91614 Evaluating TCM: Create your question

In this guide:

When formulating your research question, it is important to be precise, focused and consider all the relevant aspects for your topic.

To help you structure your question, we recommend you use the PICO framework:

P

P = patient, problem or population

Do you have a specific patient, population or problem?

I

I = intervention

Do you have a specific intervention in mind?

C

C = comparison or control

Are you comparing the intervention with another treatment, or no treatment at all?

O

O = outcome

What are possible effects of the intervention - including positive or side-effects?

For example:

Is Traditional Chinese Medicine effective in providing pain relief for patients with knee osteoarthritis?

P

 Problem = knee osteoarthritis

 Intervention = Traditional Chinese Medicine

C

 Control = no treatment

O

 Outcomes = pain relief

 Here is a short video that explains PICO.
