The Library has developed a class to assist academic staff make use of the large amounts of video material available via both free and library subscribed collections. The class has proved very popular and has been booked out every time it runs. Check the events calendar for upcoming classes.

Finding and Clipping Video Resources

The Library has access to large collections of streaming videos that can be clipped into short extracts. This workshop will showcase these multidisciplinary materials for use in teaching. It is particularly relevant to Flipped Learning. 

Content includes:

  • Academic Video Online (tens of thousands of streaming videos on all topics)
  • EduTV (10,000 TV dramas, documentaries and series)
  • TVNews (Australian TV news, current affairs and selected documentaries, updated daily)
  • How to clip and embed from YouTube.
  • Gaining an understanding of relevant copyright issues.

Prior to the class attendees are asked to establish accounts in:

  • Academic Video Online
    once logged in, click on Sign in in the top right hand corner and create a new account.
  • Informit EduTV
    once you're logged in, click Register in the top right hand corner.
  • Sign up for a Google account if you don't already have one.

We are also developing a follow-up class in creating videos from scratch, using readily available screencasting software found on UTS ITD lab computers. All of the upcoming classes can be found on the Library's Events calendar
