New eResources: Watch films and documentaries via Beamafilm and Kanopy

UTS Library is pleased to announce we now subscribe to Beamafilm and Kanopy, two video streaming services.


Beamafilm is Australia’s premium movie streaming channel for true stories and independent voices. With a collection of over 350 award-winning documentaries, independent features and festival favourites to delight, inspire and entertain you.

Watch our movies anytime, anywhere and on any internet connected device such as phones; tablets; Macs/PC’s and TV's via Chromecast, AppleTV or HDMI.

You can access hours of footage on politically, socially and culturally engaging material; including award winning titles. Check out titles mentioned in their blog like Coal Mining: A Black Hole; Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend; Inspired by Disney - Life, Animated; or Celebrating Aussie Indigenous History and Culture

Kanopy is a video streaming platform with one of the largest and most unique collections in the world featuring over 26,000 movies, documentaries, and indie and foreign films. Major subjects covered include: The arts, business and training, health sciences, media and communication, natural sciences, social sciences, and teacher education.

Kanopy’s motto is "thoughtful entertainment" - seeking to provide library patrons with access to films of unique social and cultural, not just entertainment, value; films that are often difficult or impossible to access elsewhere.

Kanopy is also committed to diversity, with an amazing array of foreign language films and films on race, LGBT and other. Kanopy’s films are also compatible for the hearing (with captions and transcripts) and visually impaired (compatible with technologies such as JAWS).
