Kanopy: video streaming with over 30,000 movies, documentaries and films

Kanopy is a video streaming platform with one of the largest and most unique collections in the world featuring over 30,000 movies, documentaries, and indie and foreign films. Major subjects covered include: The arts, business and training, health sciences, media and communication, natural sciences, social sciences, and teacher education.

Kanopy’s motto is "thoughtful entertainment" - seeking to provide library patrons with access to films of unique social and cultural, not just entertainment, value; films that are often difficult or impossible to access elsewhere.

Kanopy is also committed to diversity, with an amazing array of foreign language films and films on race, LGBT and other. Kanopy’s films are also compatible for the hearing (with captions and transcripts) and visually impaired (compatible with technologies such as JAWS).

Kanopy also has a collection of Hollywood Blockbuster Films available like Billy Elliot, Forest Gump, The Big Short, A Beautiful Mind, Chinatown, Lost in Translation, Ex Machina, The Godfather Part I and Part II , Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Pride & Prejudice, The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, American Beauty, The Fifth Element, Brokeback Mountain, The Theory of Everything.

You can stream movies on your laptop or download the app on your smart device for free through Apple iTunes or the Google Play store.

Once downloaded, create a new Kanopy account via Gmail, Facebook or with the username and password of your choice. You will then be sent a message to validate your email address and authenticate yourself as a member of UTS.
