The Great Book Swap - Thurs 30 August 2018

UTS Library and UTS Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion teamed up to host the Great Book Swap to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) vision to lift literacy levels and instill a lifelong love of reading in students in remote communities.

Update: We raised $1000 at the Great Book Swap!
Thank you everyone who came to support the event!
It was a fantastic opportunity to help close the gap, lifting literacy levels in remote communities.
To give you an idea of how much our fundraising efforts will help ILF... $300 buys a pack of 40 books and $500 helps translate stories into a first language.

During the book swaps, participants can bring a favourite book and swap it in exchange for another for a gold coin donation or alternatively purchase a book from the pre-loved book stall on the day. All donations go to ILF which helps correct inequality by assisting to remove barriers around the cost and accessibility of obtaining books.

When: Thursday 30 August, 11am - 2pm
Where: UTS Tower Buillding 1 (Level 4 Foyer)

  • We need your donations for our event in August - please bring your pre-loved books to the UTS Library Enquiries and Loans desk until 29 August.
  • Book donations may also be delivered to the Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion Office (Level 17 Tower Building) until 29 August.
The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading in our local community, and raise much-needed funds for remote Indigenous communities. Last year, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation raised over $190,000 from the Great Book Swap and this year their goal is to raise $300,000 to gift 30,000 new books to remote communities who have few to none. If you can't attend the event that's OK you can still donate to our Great Book Swap event online.

UTS considers support for equity, diversity and social justice as integral to delivering on our objective to help students build strong professional identities, future-focused graduate capabilities and global citizenship.

Hi there,

Are you collecting school textbooks? My daughter finished her HSC last year and I have many of her textbooks that I'd like to give for a good cause.
