Are you a creative professional who enjoys new opportunities?

UTS Library is currently seeking applications for the 2019 creative residency. The residency offers a successful applicant the opportunity to develop and produce a creative project that uses the UTS Library as a starting point for the research and realisation of a new creative work. This program ensures the library remains a relevant, unique, user friendly and innovative space for the future. In 2019, the program – now re-named to Creative-in-Residence continues to inspire playfulness, provoke curiosity, and encourage engagement with our community, our library and its clients

Since its inception in 2012, the program has invited visual designers, object designers, visual artists, photographers and digital media practitioners to focus their energy in producing new work for UTS Library clients. This program creates an innovative and exciting dialogue engaging our UTS community, students, clients and staff. The residency pays a stipend, which gives the creative-in-residence the freedom to produce a new work specifically in response to the library, its spaces, its collection, its people and its unique role as a place of learning. This is a wonderful opportunity for any designers, artisans, visual artists, entrepreneurs, creative industry practitioners, industry leaders, musicians, performers, writers, makers, persons studying or practicing law and/or social policy, thinkers/researchers, digital producers and any other creative people who wish to be involved.

How does the residency work?

  • The residency will run over a period of 6 months, from August 2019 – January 2020.
  • A resident stipend of $10,000 will be paid to the successful applicant.
  • A materials budget up to the value of $5,000 is available to the successful applicant to assist in realising the project. The library will manage the materials budget.
