UTS Library

UTS Library opens at UTS Central on 25 November!

The new UTS Library opens on 25 November and offers upgraded facilities and an improved catalogue experience. Features include modern study spaces with a mix of group, individual, quiet and silent study and increased access to power points – one at every desk. The new library also includes two outdoor terraces providing the opportunity for students to study with a fresh perspective.

An improved user experience both on-campus and online will launch alongside the new spaces thanks to a new catalogue, delivering improved search functionality and other features.

The UTS Reading Room also opens 25 November – with public access during library hours. Enter via level 5 of UTS Central into the triple-height space that opens to a large skylight and an uninterrupted glass facade fronting onto Alumni Green. This architectural feature of UTS Central, inspired by traditional scholarly spaces, creates a light-filled space for quiet work, reading and contemplation and a place where academics and students can engage with current research, exchange ideas and think deeply.

A snapshot of the new Library – Levels 7 to 9

Level 7
The main entrance to the new UTS Library is on level 7 of UTS Central, accessible by either the Double Helix staircase, escalators, or lifts. The library’s Single Service Desk is located at the entrance alongside the Reserve Room. The Reserve Room is for short-term loan items, LRS requests, ILL and requests/holds.  Level 7 also includes student study spaces and computers, both inside and outside the library (some with amazing views over the Reading Room), collaborative pods equipped with AV, a laptop dispenser for loans, two exhibition spaces and a coffee cart.

Level 8
Level 8 is all library and accessible via an internal staircase from the library’s entrance on level 7 (accessible access via the lift is available to UTS staff and students on request – contact Security). This floor has a wide range of student study spaces including group study rooms, computer workstations, student lockers, a beanbag pod, *Assistive Technologies Room, part of the Library’s collection of books, and access to the north and south terraces.

Level 9
Make your way up to level 9 via the internal staircase (accessible access via the lift is available to UTS staff and students on request – contact Security) to the silent study floor of the new UTS Library. Study amongst the book stacks either in individual pods or at desks by the windows with views across Sydney. A wintergarden terrace with café-style seating overlooks Alumni Green and additional perimeter computer workstations make the most of the natural light abundant throughout UTS Central.
