Congratulations to Maleen Jayasuriya from UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology for taking out 3rd prize in the final round of the International Visualise Your Thesis [4] competition.

Maleen’s entry went up against other institution's finalists of the International VYT competition.

The initial round winners of the UTS 2020 Visualise Your Thesis competition were:

  • 1st place: Maleen Jayasuriya from UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology
  • 2nd place: Elizabeth Peterson from UTS Faculty of Science, ithree Institute
  • 3rd place: Rachel Alderdice from UTS Faculty of Science, Climate Change Cluster

The 2020 UTS submissions were judged on visual impact and how well the content represented their research possibilities. Eleven entries were received in total in the first round this year and we would like to congratulate the three winners listed above, who did a fantastic job of articulating the potential benefits of their research, displaying creativity in their content curation and demonstrating high scholarly citizenship in their work.

The Library would also like to thank all students who entered the competition for their valuable time in putting their submissions together and being a part of this initiative. The Visualise your Thesis competition gives our university a chance to showcase the excellent graduate research talent coming out of UTS.

Maleen's winning submission featured a character called "Badass Betsy" and was playful and engaging.
