AGLC Journal Citation: Parentheses or Square Brackets?

AGLC requries the year in which a journal article was published to be in:

  • parentheses for journals 'organised by volume number' and
  • square brackets for journals 'organised by year'
How can I tell the difference between those two types? I would be grateful if you gave examples (for the journals, not the citation)
Thank you!

All you need to do is as follows: if you find the journal article listed with the year in square brackets, then you also list it with square brackets. Likelwise, if you find  a journal article in which the year appears in round brackets, then you also use round brackets.
