Can a room/booth booking be nullified if a group doesn't show up on time

I've noticed in Building 11 and other study areas that groups are booking rooms for 3 hour periods and show up one or more hours into their booking. Upon arriving, they expect the booth to be vacated for them.

My question is, is there a rule where a group can refuse to vacate a booth for someone that has booked it, if they show up late? I know bookings can be cancelled in the library after 15 minutes, but this doesn't appear to apply anywhere else.

Hi Jakob,

The 15 minute rule applies to room bookings in the library - but I'm not sure who has jurisdiction over Building 11. We offer our booking software for those rooms but don't have any real province over the space... I talked to Sharlene who manages Access Services at the Library about this and she said it would be best to talk to security about this if it happened in Building 11. I know that's probably a bit of an uncomfortable thing to do especially because security might not be briefed about all this - but I would argue that the library room booking limit is 15 minutes to claim a room and that if you've come 1 hour late to a 2 hour booking then its fair to argue that the opportunity to claim the room has passed.

I'm sorry I can't provide you with a better answer for this
