Purpose
The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Library collects and stores personal information during use of the "Study Spaces" system for the purpose of reserving individual or group study spaces available to UTS students.
Collecting your information
When you chose to access and use the booking system, QReserve (external link), your full name and University email address is collected, as well as your study space reservations.
Your purpose for booking is optional information and does not need to be provided. Please do not provide sensitive or confidential personal information for this purpose.
Using your information
Your information is used to authenticate your access and to allow you to reserve study spaces. UTS will also use anonymised statistical data for quality improvement and planning, and space management purposes.
Information may also be used in the event the terms and conditions are not complied with, including if future restrictions are applied or for the purposes of managing misconduct.
Storage overseas
This information is stored by the system provider, QReserve, in Quebec, Canada. The data will be protected in accordance with the QReserve Privacy Policy (external link). If you do not wish to have your data stored in Quebec, Canada, refer to "Your rights" below.
QReserve does not have access to your data, except where temporary access may be granted by UTS Library for the purposes of system support and maintenance.
Data retention
A user may request their "Study Spaces" system user account details and reservation history be deleted at any time by emailing library.bookings [at] uts.edu.au (library[dot]bookings[at]uts[dot]edu[dot]au).
Otherwise, we will store your information for the purposes covered above and in line with legal records retention obligations under the NSW State Records Act 1998.
Your rights
If you wish to access, correct or delete your information or have any question regarding your privacy and how your information will be handled, please refer your request to library.bookings [at] uts.edu.au (library[dot]bookings[at]uts[dot]edu[dot]au).
If you do not wish to have your data stored in Quebec, Canada, or do not wish to have your data stored by the "Study Spaces" system for any other reason, you must discontinue use of the "Study Spaces" system and request deletion of your data. As an alternative, you may use the "Chat with a Librarian" feature on the UTS Library website and request a reservation be made on your behalf.
