Make a Mask is your excuse to take five minutes (or fifty) and play with cardboard. Grab a blank mask, some tape and scissors, and see what shows up. Led by UTS Library’s 2026 Creative in Residence artist Simon Greiner, this project uses accessible making to spark conversations about identity, belonging, transition and creative agency. It’s an open invitation to play, learn, and build alongside Simon — with cardboard, curiosity, and whatever you bring.
Drop-in mask making (self-guided)
When: Any time, day or night (whenever the buildling is open)
Free: No bookings required
Grab a blank mask from the wall, pick up scissors and tape, and get making. The activity is self-guided, with simple instructions, prompts and inspiration available in the space.
How it works:
- Grab a blank mask from the wall
- Take a seat and choose your materials (cardboard, scissors, tape)
- Follow a prompt or invent your own design
- If you’re not finished, pop it back on the wall and return anytime
- When you're done, hang your creation on the wall! (or take it with you)
Weekly workshops with Simon (guided)
When: Every Thursday, 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Free: No bookings required
Want to go deeper? Join Simon for a guided workshop and learn cardboard sculpting techniques using additional tools (including hot glue guns and cutting blades). These sessions are a chance to ask questions, try new methods, and build something more ambitious — no experience needed.
